New volunteers are always welcome and CCHS has a variety of rewarding opportunities to put your skills and interests to work. Whether for only a few hours a month or several hours a week, you decide the level of commitment depending on your schedule.
The following is just a sample of volunteer opportunities:
Administrative - Assist researchers at the Archive and Research Center and support the daily operations of the CCHS.
Education - Develop and/or facilitate outreach activities within the local school system and greater community.
Events - Assist in the planning of public meetings, lectures, fairs, exhibits, and/or our annual Gala celebration.
House History - Trace deeds of Chevy Chase houses using Maryland and Montgomery County public records to determine the names of owners. Discover the social history of these residents by searching historic newspapers and other sources.
Newsletter - Develop a series of articles about Chevy Chase or report on CCHS events.
Oral Histories - Record and transcribe oral histories of long time Chevy Chase residents, and local business owners and employees.
Public Relations - Inform the media and local governments of CCHS events and activities and build awareness within the community of the organization.
Stewardship - Work on our annual membership and fund-raising drive, planned giving, and other areas of finance and governance to oversee and ensure the long-term security of CCHS.
